Debt Free in 2009!

Sometimes Bill and I are cut from the same cloth. We are both procrastinators, especially when it comes to unpleasant issues. Doing our taxes is always one of those painful tasks because over the years we've been filing, we've owed more than we get back. We did get a return last year for the first time in YEARS and figured the same would happen now that we can add Carter as a dependent.

So, the minute Bill was able to, he filed our taxes and sent them in. We are getting a nice return that we are going to use to pay off all of our debt (except for the car). This will also help us save more money for our hopeful summer vacation to Portland. Yesterday our tax return was deposited in our account and on Monday we will be ready to pay everything off.

I can't even begin to describe how much of a relief it is to finally be debt free after years of being in continual debt. Sometimes I hold my breath because these moments don't last very long, either something will happen to the car or there will be a medical expense (usually the case). But for now, it's all over with and we can breath for a minute or two.

I really hope this is a sign of how 2009 is going to go for us!

We are doing something similar with our return this year too. I love paying off debts!

We always pay off all of our debt with our return, except this year. This year we have to pay our house insurance as well as taxes on the house. In FL we have some super high rates! We are going to pay off what we can, but Zack and I have sat down and are trying to figure a way out of the debt we are in.

I would love to be debt free!

I can totally relate. We have some debt piled up from some of the renovations that I can't wait to pay--and hopefully will do as soon as that darn return gets deposited!
